DYNAMOS have given new coach David ‘Yogi’ Mandigora a target of 30 points in 15 matches next season.
Speaking during the unveiling of the new coach in Harare Thursday, Dynamos chairman Keni Mubaiwa said Mandigora should collect at least 30 points in the first half of the campaign.
“We have given the coach a target of 30 points in the first half of the season. That’s what we expect from him,” said Mubaiwa.
Mandigora however, admitted he faces challenge to replace Kalisto Pasuwa who won a record fourth successive championship with Dynamos.
“It’s a difficult task to take over from someone who has done so well. But I hope I will be able to do the same, but I can’t win four titles in one year,” said Mandigora.
He also said pressure was the nature of the job at Dynamos.
“Any team there is pressure. It’s the nature of our job,” he said.
“I hope to do well in the Champions league in the future since the executive has said this year we won’t be playing in the Champions League due to financial problems.
“This is a new chapter. We have a different technical team set up but it’s not about Mandigora. I need support from everyone – the supporters and the executive.”
Pasuwa lifted the championship with Dynamos this season – his fourth successive title since taking over from Lloyd Mutasa which no other coach has managed to achieve.
Mandigora, who led Dynamos to the semi-finals of the African Champions League, was one of the coaches who had applied for the post.
Tonderai Ndiraya, also a former assistant to Pasuwa, was also unveiled as the assistant coach in the new technical team.Advertisement
