Troubled Dynamos face Hwange

WOUNDED Dynamos face Hwange in a Castle Lager Premiership match at Gwanzura on Thursday seeking revenge after they were edged 1-0 in the reverse fixture.
Dynamos, rocked by player mutiny since last week over issues of welfare including draw bonuses, were sent packing from Chibuku Cup by inform Black Rhinos.
Substitute Nesbert Padzarondora deciding the contest with a deflected effort eight minutes from full time to see his side through with a 1-0 win.
However, Dynamos coach Kalisto Pasuwa says the strike by his troops demanding increase in draw bonus was not the reason for their exit from the tourney.
He argues they were just unlucky.
The players resumed training at Zimphos on Monday.
Dynamos chairperson Kenny Mubaiwa said they had a frank meeting with the players on Friday where they made clear the club was facing serious financial challenges like most organisations in a tough economic environment.
The club was however, prepared to pay all outstanding dues to the players.
“We had a frank meeting with the players where we told them we had serious financial challenges and would come up with a payment plan to clear all outstanding dues,” said Mubaiwa.
“We told them we are aware of their plight but we don’t have the money. Now it has become difficult because we are out of the Chibuku Cup in which we could have got about $150,000 from prize money and gate takings if we had reached the final.”
The defending league champions share top spot with unbeaten ZPC Kariba. Both teams have 35 points from 19 matches but Dynamos are a rung below because of an inferior goal difference.
Hwange who were also bundled out of the Chibuku Cup by Triangle are in fifth position on the league table with 30 points.
