BEAUTY will be on exhibition in Luton, England, next Saturday when the new Miss Zimbabwe UK is selected.
A dozen young Zimbabwean women aged between 17 and 24 will take to the ramp at the beauty pageant, say organisers.
The models have been taking part in photo-shoots in London and Birmingham in preparation for the annual event.
Cindy Couture, Sety Designs and Divine Creations used the photo-shoots to exhibit their creative designs, and will again dress the models on Saturday.
Tarisai Makwavarara of Divine Creations said: “As a runner-up in the 2007 Miss Zimbabwe UK myself, seeing the brand conform to this standard is nothing short of fulfilling what I have always been passionate about.
“I’m elated that I’m coming back to utilise my talent and expertise to bring a creative edge to the pageant.”
The pageant was last held in 2011 when Faith Nhemachena took the crown. The pageant’s management has since changed from ZimExpo to Simba Media International.
Organisers said great care has been taken in selecting the judges’ panel made up of notable individuals from the world of entertainment, radio, publishing and health services.
“It was of immense importance we have a deep reflection of our grassroots in ensuring the girl who will win is measured holistically across the Zimbabwean lifestyle basis,” explained Amanda Kuwana, the event coordinator.
“We have Demitriah Karongah, an award-winning Zimbabwean actor; Agrena Mushonga, a teacher by profession and also an education series author; Patience Zingwe, a well-regarded radio personality; Marshal Gore, an academic with deep influence in our community and Fahraan Khan popularly known as Kazz of the music duo Bkay & Kazz.”
Held under the theme “Celebrating Beautiful Zimbabwe”, this year’s event will feature entertainment by the Kamikaze Test Pilots and UK-based DJ King Alfred. An after-party will be held at the Deja Vu nightclub.
