Warrior forward Musona named in gambling scandal

ZIMBABWE international striker Knowledge Musona has been cited as one of the players suspected to have been involved in gambling in matches they were involved in.
A Belgian publication Sporza.be, reported that the investigations on the issue are now complete.
The Belgian ProLeague confirmed that “four or five players” were mentioned in the investigations of the committee, with Musona who plays for KV Oostende, being one the players.
Waasland-Beveren goalkeeper Laurent Henkinet has also been named as one of the suspects.
The report also says a prosecutor questioned the two players concluded that the two indeed gambled on games involving their own team.
Musona reportedly admitted and notified his club of his actions and cooperated.
It is now up to the Gambling Commission to decide whether the two will be fined. Some reports though suggest that criminal charges could also be preferred against those found guilty.
Musona has had an explosive start to the Belgian league season-scoring four times-and is among the top goal scorers. He scored a penalty at the weekend though in a 2-1 losing cause to Sporting Charleroi.Advertisement
