WARRIORS CHAN captain Hardlife Zvirekwi believes they are in a good frame to perform better than the last edition where they finished as they fourth-best team.
Zimbabwe are in camp preparing for the fourth edition of the Chan tournament to be held in Rwanda this month.
The Warriors have been present at every Chan edition with their first two appearances being Group stage exits until the last tournament.
Zvirekwi has assumed the Warriors armband following an injury to Danny Phiri who has been ruled out of the trip to Rwanda.
Zimbabwe would be in Group D together with Mali, Zambia and Uganda and Zvirekwi is the only player in the current group who was part of the last edition.
“We did well the last time and that shows we can even do better. As players we know what is expected from us so we will give it our best shot,” Zvirekwi said.
“We are preparing hard and we are in the right state of mind for the tournament. Everyone is already geared up.
“We are eyeing to do better than the last time when we were in South Africa. That is possible to achieve.”
If Zvirekwi’s Caps United teammate Joel Ngodzo makes the grade; he would be another player to have taken part at Chan after he made it to Sudan2011.Advertisement
