THE Warriors had a goal disallowed as they fell 1-0 to Tanzania in the first round, first leg match of the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers at the National Stadium on Sunday.
John Bocco scored in the 13th minute for Tanzania.
Tendai Ndoro hit the back of the net in the 38th minute but Ghanaian referee Joseph Lamptey ruled that the goal had been scored from an offside position.
Milton Ncube and Stephen Alimenda were both booked while the hosts’ Thomas Ulimwengu was also booked for simulation five after the start of the second half.
Kuda Mahachi missed two chances in the 52nd minute, when a timely intervention stopped him from taking a crack at goal, before he shot over the bar six minutes later.
Ndoro hit the bar unmarked in the 82nd minute before he was taken off for debutant Marshall Mudehwe two minutes later as coach Ian Gorowa fortified his midfield to avoid conceding a second goal.
Meanwhile, Mozambique thumped South Sudan 5-0 victory in Maputo on Sunday afternoon.
Josimar, Mexer and Sonito scored in the 13th, 42nd and 45th minutes respectively. Sonito then completed his brace nine minutes into the second half, while Isaac struck the last nail in the coffin for South Sudan six minutes from time.Advertisement
