DEFENCE Minister Oppah Muchinguri-Kashiri has been described as an unflinching struggle fighter who at one time lost a bag full of cash and documents in a fierce battle pitting ZANLA forces against Rhodesian soldiers in Mozambique during the liberation war for Zimbabwe’s independence.
However, when the now late ZANLA commander Josiah Magama Tongogara heard of the disappearance of the money and documents, he ordered Muchinguri-Kashiri to go back to the battlefield and retrieve the bag.
Narrating this event Thursday at President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s farm in Sherwood, Kwekwe, Agriculture Minister Perrance Shiri said other senior male fighters present developed cold feet to accompany her and it only took the bravery of Sobuza Gula Ndebele to volunteer.
The two managed to retrieve the bag.
