WE must accept that this is the final decision of the final court in the land, and we must respect it, MDC secretary general Douglas Mwonzora said on Friday.
He was referring to the Constitutional Court decision dismissing party leader Nelson Chamisa’s challenge against the results of the July 30 elections.
The country’s top court upheld the narrow and disputed election victory by President Emmerson Mnangagwa, clearing the way for his inauguration as the country remained deeply divided in the post-Robert Mugabe era.
Mnangagwa will be sworn in on Sunday.
The MDC Alliance rejected the court ruling in a statement issued late Friday.
However, in an interview immediately after the decision, Mwonzora said the party should respect the court’s determination.
