SOUTH Africa: Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Willard Katsande claims ‘the gods’ were not smiling on them as they were knocked out of the Nedbank Cup.

The Soweto giants were knocked out of the Nedbank Cup after losing 2-0 to Free State Stars at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday evening.

Chiefs will now end the season without a trophy for the third campaign in a row, which has now resulted in Steve Komphela resigning.

“Its hard, the gods are not smiling at us. If you could see we conceded two goals in critical phases. We should have done better. They got two chances and converted,” Katsande told SuperSport TV.

“We got many chances but…[have not scored] it’s been our problem for the past three seasons that we’re not converting chances. One mistake at the back we lose matches.

“But at the end of the day life has to go on we have to go back to the drawing board there’s nothing we can do to affect what’s going happen we can only affect what’s going to happen tomorrow.

“We knew that even if we were going to win the cup there’s going to be changes [at the club] the management is going to rectify one or two mistakes.
