Wounded Chidzambwa to face vengeful Masomere in mid-week premiership tie Faces Sunday Chidzambwa on Wednesday … How Mine coach Luke Masomere

IT cannot get any worse for veteran coach Sunday Chidzambwa.
Five league matches, two draws and three losses is the worst he could have imagined since assuming the hot seat at ZPC Kariba.
Chidzambwa lost 1-0 to Triangle in the first match at Gibbo, then by the same scoreline at home to Tsholotsho before a scoreless draw against the same side in Bulawayo. He was then floored 2-1 at home by Triangle in the reverse fixture.
While he got a mini-reprieve after booting out of Caps United from the Chibuku Super Cup, he returned to the league on Sunday with a 2-1 away loss to Dynamos at Rufaro after conceding a late last minute goal.
“We defended like amateurs in the last few minutes, it was amateurish.
We took out George Magariro in the last few minutes for that reason,” said Chidzambwa.
“We were not positioning ourselves correctly. To concede a goal like that, we shouldn’t be playing football at all. I won’t tolerate a defender who lets in such a simple goal.”
And two days later, he has to return home, on Wednesday and face the wrath of an angry How Mine who were driven deep into the shafts after a 1-5 drubbing by Highlanders on Sunday and are looking to get their own campaign back on track.
With these tough words, changes are looming at ZPC for the next match and Magariro might find himself on the bench.
But with the transfer window having closed on July 31, Chidzambwa just has to do with what he has at his disposal to save ZPC from relegation and, possibly his job.
It is understood he is sitting on a two match ultimatum that started with the Dynamos game and should he lose to How Mine, he could face an embarrassing exit after the shortest spell, 16 years after his return to the local Premiership.
ZPC finished second last season to Dynamos but have plunged to terrible depths, mainly due to administration blunders which saw coach Saul Chaminuka being sacked at the start of the season.
With that continuity was lost and the results are there for all to see.
On the other hand, How Mine had risen sharply to third on the log standings but Sunday’s drubbing means they have to rejig their play to get back into a good position.
