CONTROVERSIAL businessman and Zanu PF aspiring MP for Goromonzi, Energy Mutodi on Monday summoned headmen for a meeting which was aimed at discussing Zanu PF election strategies.
Mutodi made the announcement in a whatsapp message which was directed at Zanu PF followers in the area.
“His majesty Chief Chinamhora will be meeting with all headmen and village heads tomorrow Monday 11 June 2018 at (Goromonzi) Showground from 10am.
“All Zanu PF winning counsellors, MP and district chairs for main board only are invited.
“Counsellors please assist village heads with transport to arrive in time. You will also be required to bring requests for development work in your different wards so come prepared with the lists for the work that you need done eg where there is need for a borehole, clinic, electricity connection etc. Food will be served,” reads a message by Mutodi.
Mutodi said the meeting was to be attended by the headmen, 14 districts chairs and war veterans.
Efforts to reach the former rhumba musician turned politician were unsuccessful as his mobile phone continuously went unanswered.
He did not respond to questions sent to his mobile via whatsapp text either.
The MP hopeful is set to compete with former MDC-T director of information Luke Tamborinyoka, among other aspiring MPs, in the July 30 elections.
Zimbabwe’s traditional leaders have come under fire for aligning themselves with the ruling Zanu PF party in violation of the country’s laws which forbid partisan politics among them.
However, Zanu PF has often chosen to ignore the law through using the traditional leaders in their campaigns while pampering chiefs with new cars.
