ZAPU president Isaac Mabuka has joined other Zimbabwean politicians in congratulating United States of America (USA) President-elect Joe Biden.
President Emmerson Mnangagwa, opposition MDC Alliance leader Nelson Chamisa and MDC-T president Thokozani Khupe have already congratulated Biden following his election victory this November.
Biden outpolled incumbent Donald Trump in a tightly contested election, but the latter has declined to accept defeat citing electoral fraud.
“The Zimbabwe African People’s Union wishes to express heartfelt congratulations to the American people for the election of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris to lead not only the United States of America, but the world at this time when the world so dearly needs principles of truth, honesty, humanity and compassion such as this.
“We have, over the years been greatly impressed with the manner that Vice President Biden has stood up for what is admirable about the American dream. Memorable indeed was the very widely aired stand against the inhumanity of apartheid, which made many of us in Southern Africa to see the Senator Biden as truly one of us,” said Mabuka.
The opposition leader said his party was confident that under the “visionary” leadership of Biden and Harris, America will regain its rightful status as leader of the free world.
