ONE of Zimbabwe’s leading fashion designers, Charlene Musonza, is set to participate at this year’s DC Fashion Week in Washington, the United States (US) next month.

Musonza was invited by the organisers of the show in a development that could mark her international breakthrough.

DC Fashion Week will run from 19th September to the 25th of September in the US capital.

Harare-based Musonza, who is behind the label Charlie Mub, said she wants to learn more about the field of fashion when she makes her debut at the fashion showcase.

Her clothing line mostly focuses on women’s wear.

In a recent interview with newzimbabwe.com Musonza said, “I believe everyone has a story to tell and I like to express myself through fashion designing.

“Participating at the DC fashion show will also enable me to tap into the movie industry both locally and internationally.”

She added; “This will open me to international designers.

“It creates an opportunity for designers to exchange cultural backgrounds, share creative ideas and it also offers designers a chance to market themselves.

The 14th edition of DC Fashion Week will see emerging designers like Musonza showcasing their talent alongside established international brands.
