ZIMBABWE beat Afghanistan by 154 runs in the second ODI in Sharjah – after the scores from the first clash were completely reversed.
The visitors lost the opening match of the five-game series on Friday after being bundled out for 179 in 34.4 overs chasing Afghanistan’s total of 333-5.
But Graeme Cremer’s side tied the series score at 1-1 at the same venue on Sunday as they posted 333-5 and then skittled Afghanistan for 179 in 30.1 overs.
Brendan Taylor (125 off 121) and Sikandar Raza (92 off 74) starred for Zimbabwe with the bat as Afghanistan seamers Dawlat Zadran and Gulbadin Naib were taken for in excess of 10 an over from their combined 17 overs.
Dawlat showed some late fight in Afghanistan’s reply, hitting six sixes in an unbeaten 47 from 29 balls batting at No 10 and dominating a last-wicket stand of 64 with namesake Mujeeb Zadran (15).
But Cremer’s 4-41 and Tendai Chatara’s 3-24 helped Zimbabwe seal a routine victory, Cremer bowling Mujeeb to finish proceedings.Advertisement
