ZPC Kariba beat Rovers, back top

ZPC Kariba 2-0 Bantu Rovers
ZPC Kariba shot back to the top of the PSL log standings after dismissing Bantu Rovers 2-0 at Gwanzura Stadium on Saturday.
They now have two points ahead of second-placed Dynamos and three on top of Highlanders but their stay at the top could however last only for 24 hours if the two giants win their respective matches against Triangle and FC Platinum on Sunday.
Norest Mukwezvaramba and Obey Mwerahari’s goals in either half handed ZPC Kariba the much-needed win that helped them recover from last Wednesday’s 3-0 loss at Chapungu.
The Chapungu defeat was their first of the season after having gone for 19 consecutive matches unbeaten.
After also being booted out of the Chibuku Super Cup last weekend, ZPC Kariba recovered on Saturday to continue with their league title chase.
Bantu Rovers did not move from second spot from the bottom.
Mukwezvaramba scored off a deflection by Nqobizitha Masuku to put the hosts ahead although they were not convincing in their play.
Rovers piled pressure but with numerous attempts at ZPC Kariba goalkeeper Tendai Hove who had a busy afternoon.
After the breather, Mwerahari then took advantage of a Rovers napping defence to shoot past goalkeeper Takunda Mutangi and seal victory.
The visitors continued with the pressure but could not get a breakthrough.
