ZPC Kariba coach Sunday Chidzambwa justified why he is regarded as the best coach in Zimbabwean football, when he helped his side stop FC Platinum’s 28-match unbeaten run with a 2-1 win away at Mandava Stadium last Saturday.
Never Tigere’s late strike gave ZPC Kariba the win, after to add on Tawanda Nyamandwe’s goal that had cancelled Winston Mhango’s goal for FC Platinum.
It was a great victory for ZPC Kariba as it halted FC Platinum’s run of 28 games unbeaten that had stretched for over a year.
This reignited the debate on who is the best coach in Zimbabwean football between Chidzambwa and Calisto Pasuwa.
Pasuwa has won four straight league titles with Dynamos and has led the Warriors to their third appearance at Afcon.
Chidzambwa on the other hand boast of more than five league title as Dynamos coach while he was the first coach to help the Warriors qualify for Afcon in 2004.
He also guided Dynamos to the final of the CAF Champions League in 1998. The veteran coach is however keeping his head low, refusing to bask in the FC Platinum glory.
“The result was just like any other win so there is nothing much to celebrate about. We are just happy with the win,” Chidzambwa said.
“It feels good to beat a good team like FC Platinum which has been doing well. But we treat it like just any other win. It is just three points in the bag. I know people will start talking a lot about us but we are just playing to win just like any other team.”
ZPC Kariba are on third position on the log with just two points behind leaders FC Platinum.
