ZPC Kariba will have a chance to parade their new signings when they play Dynamos in a ZNA Charities Shield quarterfinal match at Rufaro Stadium on Sunday.
Sunday Chidzambwa’s side have been doing their pre-season business quietly but have secured signatures of household names in domestic football.
Headlining their new acquisitions is national Under-23 captain Wisdom Mutasa whose arrival in the resort town of Kariba has overshadowed the departure from the club of midfielder Raphael Manuvire who moved to Harare City as well as defender Dennis Dauda who joined Caps United.
Also joining Mutasa at ZPC Kariba are Talent Chawapiwa, Timire Mamvura and Osborne Mukuradare who joined from Harare City as well as former Caps United player Takudzwa Mahori.
Former Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Linciln Zvasiya has also joined the club together with former Hwange goalkeeper Takabva Mawaya.
Sunday’s clash with Dynamos appears to be the perfect encounter for Chidzamwa’s charges to be gauged if they could be a formidable side in the upcoming season.
“It is good for us that we are playing the giants of Zimbabwean football. Such games are vital to vet your preparedness for the new season,” Chidzambwa said.
“We have been training hard and now we want to see if the players have grasped what we had been practising. The match is also good for their mental stamina because Dynamos have a huge following and there would be pressure despite this being a pre-season match. We are looking forward to this game.”
Interestingly, Chidzambwa would be coming up against a team he has deep roots in after captaining Dynamos in the 1980s before coaching the Harare giants into the final of the 1998 Caf Champions League.Advertisement
