AmaZulu release Zimbabwean midfielder Mason Mushore after six months

Date:

South African Premiership side AmaZulu FC have parted ways with Zimbabwean midfielder Mason Mushore, bringing an end to his six-month spell at the club.

The 23-year-old joined Usuthu from Highlanders FC in January but struggled to establish himself, failing to make a single Betway Premiership appearance before being released ahead of the 2026/27 season.

AmaZulu confirmed Mushore’s departure as part of a squad overhaul that also saw Richard Ofori, Bongani Zungu, Sphephelo Majola, Thabiso Kutumela and Elmo Kambindu leave the club.

Mushore arrived in South Africa after impressing for Highlanders, but found opportunities limited as he battled to break into the first team.

His release has fuelled speculation over a possible return to Bulawayo giants Highlanders, where he made his name before securing a move to the South African top flight.

However, Highlanders are expected to face competition for the midfielder’s signature, with several Zimbabwe Premier Soccer League clubs reportedly monitoring his situation.

Former league champions FC Platinum are among the clubs understood to be interested in signing the talented midfielder ahead of the new season.
