ZIMBABWEAN soapie, Estate Blues, that captured the imagination of drama lover in the country a decade ago is set to make a shock return to the small screen next month.
Estate Blues, premiered on ZBC TV late 2005 but survived only four years due to the country’s dire economic problems.
The drama series’ creator and producer, Admire Maramba recently told a press briefing in Harare that Estate Blues is back to reclaim its top post on television.
“The idea to bring the series back was thwarted for various reasons.
“Last year (2018) we gathered with the Estate Blues folks and agreed on bringing back the people’s favourite drama and we started working on it. I can safely say that Estate Blues is back,” Maramba said.
“We have come of age and we believe we have what it takes to produce a drama that can compete with the continent’s best thereby putting our country on the map.”
Maramba went on to add that the eye catching soapie has maintained 10 members of it’s original cast.
He added however that viewers can expect to see new faces like radio personality, Pathisani Sibanda.
“We have managed to retain 10 of the cast who will blend with a new cast. Unfortunately three members have passed on, only a few are unavailable due to various reasons,” Maramba said.
Estate Blues will be broadcast in high definition (HD) continuing from Season 8. A setting more dynamic than the previous ones will be used according to the producer.
With corruption, family feuds and love in estate administration as it’s themes the drama proved to be a viable option to the ground-breaking Studio 263.
