THE 2018 Castle Lager Premier Soccer League kicks off this Saturday with six matches lined up on the opening day.

Defending champions FC Platinum will renew their rivalry with ZPC Kariba at the National Sports Stadium in Harare who have been their boogie side in the past two seasons.

The Zvishavane side will heave a sigh of relief as Sunday Chidzambwa who masterminded ZPC Kariba`s tactical performances against the Platinum Miners has since left. Chidzambwa is now the substantive national team coach.

However, FC Platinum would want to preserve their five-year record of not losing their opening fixture in top flight football.

In Bulawayo, Dynamos who have declared themselves favourites for the league championship will face u against Chicken Inn at Barbourfields.

The Gamecocks who have retained their championship winning coach Joey Antipas and have bolstered their squad during the off season will likely provide Lloyd Mutasa with a serious challenge.

Dynamos who, last season, exceeded expectations with a largely inexperience side when they overcame their poor start to serious title contenders, have also done decent business during the break acquiring the likes of Blessing Moyo, Jimmy Tigere and Raphael Manuvire.

Elsewhere, new boys Nichrut Football Club from Shurugwi will square up against fellow league debutants Mutare City at Mandava Stadium in Zvishavane.

Bulawayo City, who survived relegation by a whisker last season, host Chapungu at Luveve Stadium while Ngezi Platinum welcomes Herentals Football Club to Baobab Stadium.

Rufaro Stadium will play host to Yadah Football Club`s battle against Bulawayo Chiefs.

Meanwhile, on Sunday, only three games are lined up with the highlight being the Highlanders Football Club fixture against army side, Black Rhinos at Barbourfields Stadium.

Shabanie Mine will entertain Triangle United at Mandava Stadium while Caps United, who were dealt a huge blow when their inspirational captain Hardlife Zvirekwi was involved in a horrific car accident on Monday that left him with an amputated left arm, clash with Harare City in a Harare Derby.
