SEVERAL Manica Diamonds players are reportedly seeking to move away from the club ahead of the mid-season transfer window amid growing frustration over unpaid sign-on fees and outstanding salaries.
Sources say players have lost patience after months of waiting for the Premier Soccer League side to honour its financial obligations.
The situation has reportedly escalated after a number of players, through the Footballers Union of Zimbabwe (FUZ), wrote to the club demanding that all outstanding payments be settled before the end of the month.
The players are understood to have warned that failure to settle the arrears could result in them terminating their contracts and leaving as free agents.
NewZimbabwe.com understands that midfielder Charles Teguru, defenders Lawrence Masibhera and Ask Rupande are among the players.
Under FIFA regulations, a player seeking to terminate a contract over unpaid remuneration must first notify the club in writing of the outstanding payments and allow a maximum of 15 days for the debt to be settled.
Should the club fail to honour the payments within that period, the player is entitled to terminate the contract with just cause and without facing sporting sanctions.
Despite the club coming under new ownership in April, the financial situation is yet to improve, with salary arrears and unpaid contractual obligations continuing to cause unrest within the squad.
